East West Extravaganza - A Dialogue...
“Every time we collaborate as music colleagues, the meeting of “minds and hearts” is at the centre of that remarkable experience. This has been true through the ages - the most inspired and inspiring musical friendships are intrinsically tied to this connection between erhu and viola - An Inspirational Musical Friendships!” — Duan AiaiWith so many performances across the homeland, the duet begins to establish the famous of all musical affiliations with some famous composers such as Mr Enjott Schneider, President of the renowned German Composition Association, Mr Sheng Ye and Mr Sun Jian, two of the best-known composers from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. A beautiful and mesmerizing composition created for Duan Aiai, erhu and Sheng Li, viola with piano accompanist, Jiang Shan has such expressive vocal quality that appropriately captured the spirit that a great font of inspiration channelled between these three great musicians, fuelled by intimate affection, passion, and artistic intensity that they shared. Through the gentle dialogue of the two ethnically different strings instruments, one can hear the voices of human exchanging intimately and affectionately. The ONLY one-night concert will cover a range of repertoires from the original adaption of Chinese folk songs, music inspired by the Central Asia and Georgia region. The colourful music dances inspired across the silk road. This is going to be a musical dialogue that flowed from the compositional intersection through the geo-culture, landscape and language of music.

Esplanade Presents Voices Series ...
Formerly known as “A4”, the history of Opus Jam began in 1995 when the group’s founder Emmanuel Cappelaere met the American Gospel vocal group Acapella. He realised that their voices could express themselves with strength and greater intensity especially since voices were the only featured instruments. After 15 years of performance with 800 concerts and performances around the world, and five albums with over 35,000 copies sold, Cappelaere decided to broaden his musical horizon and enrich his arrangements. To do so, he created the sextet Opus Jam in 2012 at the Saint-Emilion with a wish also to remind the public that harmonised a cappella singing started in Europe. The group is supported by Ibrahim Maalouf, Didier Lockwood, Jean-François Zygel and other musicians. Now, Emmanuel Cappalaere (tenor), Julien Guilloton (bass), David-Alexandre Aquiba (beatboxing), Rémy Arenas (baritone), Nicolas Gabet (soprano) and Mathieu Becquerelle (tenor) present a combination of polyphony with a touch of humour and lightness, giving a new and unique spin on a cappella singing. Two powerhouse artists explore new sounds in Afro-Cuban Jazz.Grammy-nominated artists Alfredo RodrÍguez and Pedrito Martinez first worked together on Alfredo’s 2012 release Invasion Parade. Since that initial recording session they have had the rare occasion to perform together as a duo, leaving audiences completely mesmerized by their fearless and virtuosic playing. Each artist brings a different approach to the collaboration. A protégé of Quincy Jones, who took him under his wing when he defected to the US in 2009, RodrÍguez was schooled in the rigorous classical conservatories of Havana. His riveting artistry is informed as much by Bach and Stravinsky as it is by his Afro-Cuban and jazz roots. Martinez’s musical training came directly from the streets of the Cayo Hueso neighborhood of Old Havana in which he was raised and he has subsequently performed with artists such as Sting, Paul Simon, and Wynton Marsalis.YouTube
